"Marketing Masala: Where Desi Hustle Meets Strategy"
Desi Style Marketing Made Simple
Hello, my fabulous marketers,
Ever wonder why some businesses blow up and others fade out? Why does one person’s kulfi business go viral, and another’s sits unnoticed?
Spoiler: It’s not luck — it’s the 4 Ps of Marketing.
From MBA textbooks to Instagram side hustles, this classic formula works everywhere — and today, we’re breaking it down in full desi-drama style. 👇

The 4 Ps = Your Business’s Marketing Backbone
1. Product – What are you selling, and why?
It’s not just about what you offer — it’s about why someone needs it.
Whether you’re selling kulfi from home, a digital marketing course, or a wedding invite, ask yourself:
“How does my product make someone's life easier, better, or more joyful?”
Example: Shreya started selling hand-painted mugs during lockdown. She wasn’t just selling a cup — she was selling personalized gifting joy, which made her stand out.
📌 Newbie Tip:
List 3 problems your product solves. If your solution is real, people will want it — not just see it.
2. Price – How much should you charge?
Too cheap, and people doubt the quality. Too expensive, and they bounce.
Your price should scream: "I’m worth it — splurge karo!" (translation: Treat yourself!)
Think of pricing like a bridal lehenga — expensive is okay if it delivers wow.
💡 Example: Selling a savings course for ₹999? Don’t just say “budgeting tips.” Say:
“Learn how to save ₹10,000 with this ₹999 course.”
Now that sounds like a deal!
📌 Newbie Tip:
Research your competitors, factor in your time, and ask:
“Would I pay this price for this value?”
Honest answer = honest pricing.
3. Place – Where can people buy it?
Is it on your website? Insta DMs? WhatsApp? Kirana store?
Make the buying process easier than ordering pani puri. Don’t make people work to give you their money!
💡 Example: A home baker in Jaipur tripled her orders when she moved from “DM to order” to a simple Google Form. One-click convenience = more conversions.
📌 Newbie Tip:
Use platforms your audience already uses — Instagram, WhatsApp, Linktree. Reduce friction, increase action.
4. Promotion – How will the world find out?
Creating something amazing is half the battle. The other half? Telling your story loud and proud.
Promotion = your voice on Reels, Stories, DMs, emails, or even chai pe gupshup.
Example: Seema sells DIY mehendi kits. When she started posting before-and-after pics and hosted a free workshop, her orders tripled. Why? People saw, trusted, and bought.
📌 Newbie Tip:
Start small:
2–3 posts a week
Share real customer feedback
Tell your why — because people connect with people, not products.
